Making Seamless Socks for Kids

Before designing Qool Socks, we started by surveying hundreds of families around the world about kids’ socks.

They told us about the all-too-familiar problems with kids' socks, and toe-seams were always at the top of the list. A sock with a seam is one of the biggest sources of frustration and discomfort for kids.

It turns out that seamless socks have been around for a relatively short period of time, first appearing on the market in the early 2000s. Hopefully, over time, all socks with seams will be completely phased out.

Seamless socks are made using a knitting process that eliminates the need for seams, creating a smoother, more comfortable fit. The machine consists of a series of needles that are arranged in a circular pattern, and a yarn feeder that supplies the yarn to the needles.

The process begins by creating a tube of fabric on the machine, which forms the base of the sock. The needles then create the heel, toe, and other parts of the sock by shaping and cutting the fabric. This process is done in a single step, eliminating the need for any additional sewing or stitching.

We always knew we would design Qool Socks without seams. But finding a factory in the US to work with a kids sock startup was challenging-- it took YEARS! Good things take time, right?
